Hog Island Oyster Company, Ferry Building

Second try yesterday. First time last November. Stood around for a good 5 minutes while everyone ignored us, told it was closed by the guy we finally tackled, then another one rudely flipped the 'closed' sign right by my face. Only to see the foursome who came behind us GET SEATED. Yeah. That's right.

But, I was in the mood for a grilled cheese and some oysters, what the hell. SAME SHIT! Shuffled around awkwardly for 5 minutes (in the right place!). Finally a BUSBOY asked us if we wanted a seat - felt that sorry for us? - and we took a nice seat right by the window. After that things were pretty smooth, except Hubby asked for water refills near the end and didn't get it. The reviews on Yelp about the pompous or snotty attitude? Preferential treatment? True. I was watching. There was a serious reserve and snottiness going on there. We got the only nice guy, Fidel, thankfully. Really sweet, and he was funny when we were chatting about the excitement behind us at the Ferry Plaza Seafood - some Asian guy making a huge scene and yelling about gratuity (?)

Would we go back? Yeah, but we're not stampeding to do it. If we have nothing else we feel like eating in the City (!!!), then maybe.

Food was decent. We ordered a sampler, fresh and good (6 for $17), Gumbo - SWIMMING in oil but good ($16), Grilled Cheese, delicious ($12). Plus 1 iced tea, tax & tip, came to $63.11. Worth cost? Not really.
