La Salette, Sonoma

Walk-in lunch with Hubby on a rainy October day. Very curious since we’ve not had Portuguese food before, and eager to try something new. I was a little worried because of a few negative reviews on Yelp, but not enough to stop me.

Very friendly maître d’, attentive waitress. Loved it the minute we stepped in, exposed kitchen and wood oven gave a very nice cozy feeling to the dining area, perfect for the dreary day. There's patio seating for when it's dry.

Hubby had the paella, which was so excellent I kept sneaking bites from his plate. The rice was so fragrant with saffron, tender fresh seafood, sausage. I had the lamb stew - only meat in sauce, which looked a little plain (used to veggies in stews, I guess), with squash and potatoes on side. The lamb was very tender, sauce tasty, veggies done well. Had a glass of some Portuguese wine, ok, nothing special. Portuguese flan was very good. Watched a Portuguese cheese trio served to the next table, really want to try that next. It looked tasty, with fruit/jam(?) accompaniments. Can't wait to come back for dinner.
