Jazz at Pearl's, SF
Somewhat pricey, but an excellent venue for live jazz. Not a bad seat anywhere. Atmospheric room. Had to wait in a line, and they were late seating people, so the band started 20 mins late. No talking allowed, it's a performance.
Houston Preston last night, 10pm show, and the whole band was good, just wish he'd played a tad more. Got tiks half price at Goldstar, with $4 surcharge, plus 2 drink min at around $10 a drink. Drinks were good, regular size, no skimp on the alcohol. If they served food it'd be a lot easier, so I would rate Biscuit and Blues above this (gaahhh, corn fritters). They offered 4-5 appetizers, but I'd been warned off them, so didn't try.
Mr. Preston was such a nice guy, very personable, friendly and very tolerant of all us gawking folk. Posed for pics and chatted after the performance. Lovely.
