Left Bank, San Mateo

Avoid this place unless everything else is positively absolutely utterly full and the wait time is over two hours. Then you can *maybe* consider coming here for subpar food, crappy service, outrageous prices, and unbelievably snobby and unfriendly attitude with no good reason. The place was not busy, yet it took a half hour for the oysters to come, which were full of shell bits. Someone needs shucking lessons badly.

Waiter: We had to chase the guy down to order cocktails. Didn't bother telling us the specials, which we heard from a waiter at another table. No elaboration of food details, again had to listen to the other table's waiter. After practically sighing at us for inconveniencing him by taking our order, no asking if we wanted wine - worse, ran off in the middle of my sentence...."I'd like a glass of...." because he forgot perhaps that people like wine with their food? At this price point, at this kind of establishment, suggesting wine should be a given. Decent service should be a given.

Food was extremely bland and unimpressive, Pasta Pomodoro next door serves better dishes. That's saying something.

The maitre'd went out of his way to ignore us and the other 2 tables to our left, while lavishing attention to the table to our right. Won't take it personally, since I noticed the other tables also looked very displeased, and one couple practically stormed off, especially since it took them 15 mins to flag down the waiter for the check (same as ours).

Won't bother spending any more time grousing about this place, since it'll take another half page.
