Heaven on Seven, Naperville, IL
We've had fantastic food in New Orleans. We're not finding that kind of food here. But I guess Heaven on Seven's doing a decent job of whatever it's trying to do. It's a fun, tourist-y feeling Mardi Gras-like atmosphere, original artwork on the walls available for purchase, a portion of which goes to Katrina causes. The funniest captioned hot sauce bottles. But they weren't hot at all; however, I do love snacking on habaneros, so if you can't take any heat, I am sooo the wrong reviewer for you.
Everything else kinda went downhill. We love gumbo, and this was NOT gumbo. If you like drinking super-salty thick thanksgiving turkey gravy with a couple pieces of sausage, then you'll be in heaven. We found it nasty. Hubby's jambalaya had a weird sweet-tasting sauce (what's with all the sugar?!), but the ingredients were ok enough. The shrimp and grits were decent, hence the 3rd star.
Not returning unless friends make us. And they'll have to be VERY good friends.
